Going underground
Being part of an underground art movement is cool but, having your work displayed on the London Underground must give you quite a rush.
Well, I wouldn't know so you'll have to ask illustrator Jasiminne Yip, a recent graduate of St Martin's who is taking part in the Art Below campaign.
Sometime muse and all-time party girl (see her blog Posh, Broke & Bored for evidence), the Malaysian-born artist has been featured in Selfridges and the recent Rummage Sale held at the Superette Gallery, Brick Lane.
Questioning contemporary culture, Jasiminne seeks to make social commentary on all that she sees with 'unabashed penwomenship' so it's no surprise that her latest work Ali and Hassan explores the theme of sexuality and religion.
To find out more about this feisty lady and to see more of her work, visit, http://www.jasiminne.com/

Design your own Wallpaper* Cover
Register today
For the Wallpaper* August issue, you have the chance to play art director for the day and custom-make your own cover.
You’ll join the ranks of Philippe Starck, Zaha Hadid and Anish Kapoor – all of whom are previous Wallpaper* cover artists.
Just register before the 17th May and Wallpaper*, in association with Rolex, will give you access to our special online cover application. Creative luminaries James Joyce, Nigel Robinson, Hort, Anthony Burrill and Kam Tang have contributed a wide selection of images, graphics and patterns for you to choose from. You can scale, rotate, colour and assemble these any way you like to create your masterpiece.
Your cover will front your own copy of our ‘Handmade’ special, an issue in which Wallpaper* has pushed the boundaries of bespoke design. They have commissioned our favourite designers, artists and craftsmen to create unique furniture, fittings, fashions and more – the fruits of which will be on show at the Brioni house in Milan during this year’s Salone del Mobile. But, for the cover, they are handing the reins to you.
When you’ve perfected your design, Rolex will also invite your artistic direction on the back cover. You can choose from nine different Rolex advertising creatives to complete your personalised issue. This will arrive when your usual August issue is due.
Registration deadline: 17th May

Spring has Sprung
The clocks have gone forward which means – despite what weather greets you – spring is here and so is Sprung. jotta (the creative community borne from the University of the Arts London) has joined with fine art paper merchants Fedrigoni to present Sprung – a visual interpretation of the written word, inspired by the traditions and rituals of the season. The exhibition and accompanying publication will feature twelve jotta artists chosen by a panel of judges to showcase their response to a selected poem.
The exhibition includes pencil drawings, silk screen prints and hand sewn graphics which leads me on nicely to the work of Evelin Kasikov who combines traditional cross stitch with graphic design and geometry.
As you can see, these things combined leads to a really unique handmade printing process using the palette of CMYK.
The exhibition previews tonight and will run until April 30 at Fedrigoni UK, London Showroom, 5th Floor, Diamond House, 36-38 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8EB

A peek inside the world of Print & Pattern
For several years now, blogs have led to some great books and Print & Pattern by Bowie Style is no exception.
Marie Perkins aka Bowie Style, started the super popular Print & Pattern blog in 2006 'while researching mood boards in her job as a textile designer. Creating trend books for leading UK stores meant she needed images to demonstrate print trends, and after finding no dedicated blogs at that time decided to start one.'
Inside this beautiful book, published by Laurence King you'll find page after page of bold and brave prints from some of our best-loved designers – and some you won't be as familiar with.
From a textiles point of view – expect work by Alice Burrows
and Lovely Lovely...
While a coffee table book is all well and good, you'll not only be inspired by Print & Pattern, but I think it's quite likely, that it will become a source book for art students the world over.
And those of us who can only dream of creating such prints and patterns.
Print & Pattern by Bowie Style is published by Laurence King, priced at £19.95

The shape of things to come
J'adore Cleo Ferin
What a cool cat Cleo Ferin is. Only last year, Cleo graduated from London College of Communication with a degree in surface design and already she's: designed record sleeves for French duo, Lisbonne; made a range of clothing for Brag Boutique in Brick Lane and produced garments for the Sugababes' video, Here Come The Girls.
Oh, and she's been illustrating for cool kids mag, Okido.
Fancy a look at what I'm loving?
Here's I Like London which is available as a fabric or wallpaper...
Spot the ice cream van? Here's a close up in the green colourway...
Of course, we'll always have Paris so if you fancy a little French fancy, there's I Am In Paris – also available as a wallpaper or fabric...
And, if you'd rather wear your art on your sleeve (more over, your neck), you'll love Cleo's range of 100% silk scarves, which in her own words are 'hipper than Hermes, more chic than Chanel.'
After seeing all the colours and patterns, I'd have to agree...
Here's a close up of Cleo's best seller, the nautical-inspired diamond and chain design...
And those were just a few reasons why J'adore Cleo Ferin.

Thanks to Cleo for sending the pretty pictures – which remain copyright of the artist.
